Akira is the name that I was given by my parents at birth. It means wisdom in Japanese. Having been born and raised in Japan, then later educated in North America, I always find myself unconsciously looking for the aesthetics of Japanese culture that has evolved greatly over millennia. From the country’s prehistoric Jomon culture to its contemporary hybrid culture, which combines influences from Asia, Europe and North America, this evolution and distinct identity is very important to me.

As a creature on this planet, I’m continuously asking what we can do for our true happiness. My core philosophy is based on “Human Revolution.” This is the idea that the self-motivated inner change of my own positively affects the larger web of life and results in the rejuvenation of human society.

As an artist, my goal is to return to the very basic instincts that we all have inside of our hearts. Therefore, I’m continuously trying to understand the essence of humanity in my artwork. As a visual creator, I’m continuously trying to capture the very essence of all things. Lines, shapes, mass, texture and color have always been my foundation skills to attract, inspire, and motivate audience by conveying a desired message.

My foundation skills can play blue notes, improvisation, polyrhythm, syncopation, and swing note like a jazz musician. To keep playing a great jazz piece that is my life, I am seeking truth inspirations and ideas. My inspirations and interest are based on humanism and naturalism to understand the human soul and the law of nature, which have helped me to develop my two thinking sets.

Critical thinking develops my ability to capture the essence of all things by understanding both psychographics and demographics. Creative thinking develops my ability to imagine or invent something new by combining, changing, or reapplying existing ideas in new ways. These two solid thinking set elements continuously flourish to visualize an image clearly and effectively to convey the desired message.
